Mold Wizard Nx6 Tutorial Pdf Pdf
Mold Wizard Nx6 is a software application that runs on top of NX, a computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software developed by Siemens. Mold Wizard Nx6 provides a complete solution for mold design, analysis, and manufacturing. It allows you to create parametric models of mold components, such as cores, cavities, runners, gates, and cooling channels. It also helps you to perform mold flow analysis, optimize mold cooling, and generate toolpaths for machining.
By using Mold Wizard Nx6, you can save time and money, improve quality and accuracy, and reduce errors and rework. You can also benefit from the integration with NX, which enables you to access other advanced features, such as synchronous technology, freeform modeling, simulation, and documentation.
What You Will Learn in This Tutorial
In this tutorial, you will learn how to use Mold Wizard Nx6 to design and create a simple injection mold for a plastic part. You will learn how to:
Set up the project and define the mold base
Create the core and cavity using parting lines and surfaces
Add runners, gates, and vents using standard or custom shapes
Create cooling channels using sketch-based or feature-based methods
Perform mold flow analysis using Moldex3D or NX EasyFill Analysis
Optimize mold cooling using NX Thermal Analysis or NX Coolant Flow Analysis
Generate toolpaths for machining using NX CAM
Create the mold assembly and drawings using NX Assembly Design and NX Drafting

How to Set Up the Project and Define the Mold Base
The first step in using Mold Wizard Nx6 is to set up the project and define the mold base. The project contains all the information and settings related to the mold design, such as the part file, the mold base size and type, the units, the materials, and the standards. The mold base is the foundation of the mold assembly, which consists of several plates and components that hold and support the core and cavity inserts.
To set up the project and define the mold base, follow these steps:
Open NX and select File > New. In the New dialog box, select Mold Wizard as the application and Mold Project as the template. Click OK.
In the Mold Wizard dialog box, enter a name for the project and browse to a folder where you want to save it. Click OK.
In the Part Navigator, expand the Work Part node and double-click on Part to open it. This is the part file that contains the 3D model of the plastic part that you want to create a mold for.
In the Mold Wizard dialog box, click on Define Workpiece. This will open a new dialog box where you can specify the dimensions and orientation of the workpiece, which is a rectangular block that represents the maximum size of the mold base.
Enter the values for Length, Width, and Height of the workpiece. You can also use the buttons to align the workpiece with the part or to center it. Click Apply.
In the Mold Wizard dialog box, click on Select Library Mold Base. This will open a new dialog box where you can select a standard or custom mold base from a library of predefined templates.
Select a mold base type from the drop-down list. You can also filter the list by manufacturer, standard, or size. Click OK.
In the Mold Wizard dialog box, click on Edit Mold Base Parameters. This will open a new dialog box where you can modify the parameters of the selected mold base, such as the number and size of plates, components, screws, and pins.
Change any parameters as needed. You can also use the buttons to preview or update the mold base model. Click OK.
You have now set up the project and defined the mold base. You can see the mold base model in the graphics window and its structure in the Assembly Navigator. You can also save your project by selecting File > Save All. e0e6b7cb5c
