CHRISTMAS GARLAND
Even if you have already finished all of your holiday decorating by now, there are still plenty of ways to add a few finishing touches. Christmas garland is the perfect way to add a little extra holiday joy to your home. You can opt for faux garland, or get the real stuff from a Christmas tree lot, or even gather clippings from your own property! CHRISTMAS GARLAND
Christmas garland can be used to decorate anywhere in your home, from the staircase railing to the fireplace mantel, entry console table or even as a beautiful dining table centerpiece. 7. Garland Trimmed Banister. This gorgeous staircase features garland trimmed along the banister. A beautiful ivory ribbon is tied into bows throughout the garland, creating a touch of elegance. Mini lights add a magical glow. (via Southern Hospitality Blog)
10. Alfresco Fire. If you have an outdoor fireplace (or even an indoor one), the mantel is the perfect spot for adding some real or faux garland. 12. Dining Table Garland. Beautiful garland can also be used as a dining table centerpiece for Christmas. Simply drape garland down the center of your table. Freshly clipped cedar branches (or use faux) are mixed with magnolia leaves on top of the table. A pallet box is suspended from above, using glass jars filled with tea lights for ambiance. 13. Classic Christmas Garland. If you have stairs or a railing in your home, then adding garland is a must. It is a fabulous way to infuse your home with some Christmas cheer! You can opt to use faux garland, which can be found at places such as Walmart, Target, Michaels, or even Etsy. Real garland can also be used, found at a nursery or even clippings from your own backyard! We made another garland for Christmas! Our Thanksgiving garland was so popular, we decided to make another for Christmas. This time we used red and green textured scrapbook paper and ivory scrap-booking letters. It was very easy to make and we are so happy with the end result!

Wreaths and garlands are essential to any Christmas decorating plan. A beautiful wreath can dress up your front door, and on any interior door, you like. Place a wreath on the bathroom door to help guests easily find it. Wreaths can be made of all kinds of things, from evergreen, berries, or other materials.
Ornaments are for more than just Christmas trees. Dress up garlands and wreaths with silver and pine cone ornaments. Or fill a large glass jar or vase with ornaments in colors that go with your chosen theme.
3. Add ribbon. The trick to getting ribbon to look great on a garland is to buy wired ribbon and to use florist wire. Prep your ribbon by twisting an eight inch piece of wire around the ribbon every 12 inches.
4. Add a second, contrasting ribbon. Since I used a wide printed ribbon, I chose a transparent solid ribbon as my second. I love transparent ribbon on garland because it catches the lights and makes things sparkle at night.
My favorite stores for Christmas decor are Hobby Lobby, Big Lots, Joann and Michaels, especially when their stuff goes on sale. Walmart and Target also have cute and affordable garland and supplies. Here are a few of my favorite garlands that I have used over the years:
Be sure to double check the length of these garlands before purchasing to make sure they are long enough for your space. Remember you will probably have to put two or even three together end-to-end to have a garland long enough for a typical fireplace.
